I do not notice a musty smell after the hose are removed from the outer cardboard packaging (last photo) but you might. If you would like I will ship them without the cardboard just let me know. Each sale is for 3 pair as shown in the photos. I believe I have described these very fairly and believe the worst case scenario for the shopper would be that they have wash them before they wear them the first time. M20
